Half a Century with Fusheng|Tony Tsai, Senior Service Technician

「Whenever we face a difficult challenge or a complex machine condition, there is always a steady presence that reassures us.

We firmly believe that when he is there, no problem is unsolvable.」

Tony Tsai, from Fusheng’s Sanchong plant in Taipei, is deeply trusted by his colleagues.

In 1968, Tony first stepped through the gates of the Sanchong plant. He was just a junior high school student then, knowing nothing about machinery. Starting from the ground up — assembly work and parts processing — he gradually learned how to read blueprints, take precise measurements, disassemble and reassemble components, and diagnose problems.

Along the way, he witnessed Fusheng’s transformation: from reciprocating compressors to the era of rotary screw air compressors, from a small factory of a few dozen people to a production base of hundreds, and eventually into a global enterprise.

To us, he is more than a technical pillar — he is a longtime companion who has stood with Fusheng through every high and low.

In the blink of an eye, nearly sixty years have passed. Now in his seventies, Tony remains energetic and sharp, still devoted to his role, arriving at the service center early each morning .

Reflecting on the journey, Tony’s memories remain vivid.

The days he spent working side-by-side with our founder,Mr. Hou-Teng Lee, are especially dear to him.

In his eyes, Mr. Lee was upright and resolute, deeply caring toward his employees, and unwavering in his dedication to machinery.

Tony still remembers seeing him immersed in his work on the factory floor, and how he would personally take him into customers’ compressor rooms to inspect each unit one by one. With just a single glance or the slightest change in sound, Mr. Lee could pinpoint any abnormality.

That level of expertise left a deep impression on the young Tony.

It took him five years to build a solid foundation.

From there, experience became his greatest teacher — refined through countless hours of hands-on work. As his mastery grew, Tony began passing the torch to a new generation.

From using measuring tools to reading technical drawings, and spotting when something doesn’t look quite right, he demonstrates each step and explains it clearly.

His attention to detail ensures that every machine he works on returns to the field and stays running.

Over the past 58 years, Tony has traveled across Fusheng’s sites, providing technical support and guidance wherever it was needed. Within the company’s global service network, he has always remained on the front line — responding to every compressor in need of repair.

In the days before service vehicles were available, he once rode a motorcycle from Taipei and covered 212 kilometers alone to reach a pulp mill in Hualien for equipment maintenance.

When he arrived, the plant manager greeted him like an old friend, smiling and waving:
“Tony’s here — we can rely on you.”

A simple line, but the highest form of trust given to a technician.

Back at the service center, he is most often found at his workbench, where tools are kept in perfect order.

Once a compressor head is opened, he inspects the rotors, bearings, and casing — his eyes searching for flaws as his hands feel for the machine’s pulse. If even slight irregularities appear on a rotor surface, he corrects them step by step, carefully smoothing them out — sometimes spending an entire day on a single pair of rotors.

While some issues are obvious, others require hours of quiet deduction.

Over the years, Tony has accumulated countless troubleshooting cases and hands-on experience.

While the basics of repair can be learned in months, true mastery is a lifelong pursuit with no finish line.

As compression technology evolves, Tony’s value remains irreplaceable — not just for his technical skill, but for his keen observation and the intuitive wisdom that only decades of experience can provide.

From basic training to precise execution, becoming a top-tier technician requires years of patience and seamless teamwork.

For decades, Tony has remained on the front line, working side by side with his team and leading by example.

The younger technicians he once trained have now grown into independent professionals, many of whom have become key members leading new generations of engineers.

Tony’s career spans a major shift in manufacturing — from traditional machining to smart manufacturing.

When it comes to mentoring, he has always been steady, sincere, and patient. If someone doesn’t get it right away, he goes through it again and guides them step by step.

As he often says,“There’s no one who can’t learn — if you are willing to put your heart into it, you will get there.”

Generation after generation of young technicians have grown under Tony’s guidance, mastering their skills and delivering high-standard, highly reliable after-sales service to customers with strong professional capability.

This strong team bond ensures that even in a world of steel and machinery, our service center will always holds a space of warmth and sincerity.
